Start putting your orders in for the new and exclusive Royal Navy Medical Service Tartan.

https://www.strathmorewoollen.co.uk/ are very experienced in what they do with over 400 tartans available, many from other military organisations doing similar projects.

Due to the logistical challenges of so many different items, sizes, made to measure and delivery addresses, working from experience https://www.strathmorewoollen.co.uk/ have advised the follow process.

1. Visit https://www.strathmorewoollen.co.uk/ and decide on an item you wish to purchase.

2. If you require a bespoke item made from the Tartan, Contact https://www.strathmorewoollen.co.uk/ and enquire how much Tartan fabric would be required. Please note any measurements eg waist, hip, height, etc, as this will determine the amount of Tartan required. Any ‘required by’ date should also be stated. A self measurement form will be emailed for completion and returning to Strathmore.

3. Return to RNMC website and purchase your required tartan length (BY THE METRE)

4. RNMC will send order to https://www.strathmorewoollen.co.uk/ who will contact you and confirm your item, measurements, delivery address and delivery costs.

5. Item will be tailored, invoiced and shipped directly to desired address (worldwide).

There are therefore 2 costs. One payment to the RNMC for the length of Tartan required, the RNMC own the tartan and have the exclusive rights to sell it. The second payment is to https://www.strathmorewoollen.co.uk/ for the tailoring and shipping. If you have your own tailor please feel free to liaise with them and purchase the length of tartan required (BY THE METRE).

We are currently only selling in complete metres.

Once the tartan has been woven, a few items will become available from the shop such as ties, cummerbunds, scarves, bowties and buttonhole corsages/brooches.

Background

On 20 December 2022 The Scottish Register of Tartans accepted and authorised the "Royal Navy Medical Service” tartan.

This tartan was created for the Royal Navy Medical Service (RNMS) and Royal Navy Medical Club (RNMC) bringing together the colours of all branches and disciplines including; the distinctive 'Red Stripe' (or orange stripe) for Medical and Dental Officers; dark blue, red and gold representing the Queen Alexandra's Royal Navy Nursing Service and Salmon pink representing Medical Service Officers. The colours represented also include; the Services Arms of the Royal Navy, for which the RNMS provides healthcare in the UK and when deployed, The Surface Fleet, Submarine Service, Royal Marines, Fleet Air Arm and Royal Fleet Auxiliary.
